The Role of Islamophobia in Modern Jihad

Islam’s message to the non-Muslim world is the same now as it was in the time of Muhammad and throughout history: submit or be conquered. The Quran, as well as the teachings of Muhammad has split the world in two parts: the House of Islam and the House of War. The House of Islam includes nations that are governed by Sharia Law, which dictates and governs every aspect of life. The rest of the world exists in rebellion and ignorance of Allah’s will, most especially the United States, hence the label “dar al-harb” or House of War.

The motto of the Muslim Brotherhood is: “Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. The Quran is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope. Allahu Akbar!”

While it is true that Jihad literally translates to “struggle”, by reading the Quran and the Sunnah it is plain to see that Jihad is a struggle in physical combat against the infidels of the world. Jihad has endured for well over a thousand years. Near the end of Muhammad’s life he sent letters to the great empires of the Middle East demanding their submission to his authority. Shortly after his death, Muslim armies had had spread into Byzantium, Persia, Iraq, Iran, North Africa, and France. All told, in the last ten years of his life Muhammad organized sixty-five military campaigns and personally led twenty-seven of them.

The Sunnah, or “The Way” of the Prophet Muhammad, is a collection of Muhammad’s personal teachings and behavior and is considered indispensable knowledge for any true Muslim. The Sunnah is comprised of hadiths, or reports, of Muhammad’s life. In Muslim tradition, Muhammad is the ideal man. He is the measuring stick of morality and his actions are not judged by any independent moral standard, certainly not that of Western culture. Instead, his actions in life establish the true standard for Muslims.

  • Volume 7, Book 62, Number 88: The Prophet wrote the marriage contract with Aisha when she was six years old and consummated his marriage with her when she was nine years old.
  • Volume 2, Book 63, Number 413: The Jews of Medina brought to the Prophet a man and woman from amongst them who had committed illegal sexual intercourse. He ordered both of them to be stoned to death, near the place of offering the funeral prayers beside the mosque.
  • Volume 9, Book 84, Number 57: According to statement of Allah’s apostle: “Whoever changes his Islamic religion, then kill him.”

The founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, Hasan al-Banna, wrote a treatise called Jihad in 1928. In this treatise he tells Muslims expressly to rise up in war against all non-believers:

The verses of the Quran and Sunnah summon people in general to jihad – to warfare, to the armed forces, and all means of land and sea fighting. Jihad is an obligation from Allah on every Muslim and cannot be ignored or evaded. Allah has ascribed great importance to jihad and has made the reward of the martyrs and the fighters in His way a splendid one. Only those who have acted similarly and who have modeled themselves upon the martyrs in their performance of jihad can join them in this reward. Furthermore, Allah has specifically honoured the Mujahideen (those who wage jihad) with certain exceptional qualities, both spiritual and practical, to benefit them in this world and the next. Their pure blood is a symbol of victory in this world and the mark of success and felicity in the world to come. Those who can only find excuses, however, have been warned of extremely dreadful punishments and Allah has described them with the most unfortunate of names. He has reprimanded them for their cowardice and lack of spirit, and castigated them for their weakness and truancy. In this world, they will be surrounded by dishonour and in the next they will be surrounded by the fire from which they shall not escape though they may possess much wealth. The weaknesses of abstention and evasion of jihad are regarded by Allah as one of the major sins, and one of the seven sins that guarantee failure. Jihad is the fighting of the unbelievers, and involves all possible efforts that are necessary to dismantle the power of the enemies of Islam including beating them, plundering their wealth, destroying their places of worship and smashing their idols.

But do the words of the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood have any bearing on today’s Muslims? Absolutely. Two months after 9/11 Swiss authorities raided the home office of Youssef Nada, the Muslim Brotherhood’s financial strategist. One of the documents the officials seized was dated 12/1/82 and was written in Arabic. This document would come to be known simply as “The Project”. It is a highly detailed plan for Muslims to infiltrate the West. It states that the Muslim Brotherhood must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand jihad, that they will destroy the American civilization from within by compromising leaders, controlling speech and changing the fabric of America slowly, methodically, and permanently.

The Project states that “the success of the movement in America is dependent on establishing an observant Islamic base with power and effectiveness.” The steps included in the document are:

  • Use deception in all areas of government and society to disguise the Islamist agenda
  • Support jihad movements across the world through propaganda & material support
  • Conduct covert operations within the halls of power in support of a global movement
  • Infiltrate existing Western institutions & work with them until they can be subverted to Islam
  • Give an Islamic policy perspective on the pressing questions of the day

The deeper one looks into Islam it becomes increasingly difficult to agree with the curious little slogan we’ve seen so much of lately: Islam is the religion of peace. Since 9/11 there have been over thirty thousand Islamic terrorist attacks across the globe. There is a new attack every couple of hours. While not all Muslims are jihadists, it is true that all jihadists are Muslim. Even majority Muslim countries are aware of this. Egypt is 94% Muslim. Their courts have recently banned and dissolved the political arm of The Muslim Brotherhood known as the Freedom and Justice Party. The Egyptian government, as well as Russia, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain have also declared the Brotherhood a terrorist organization. Egypt’s government website has a warning to America about allowing the Muslim Brotherhood to operate within its borders.

Earlier this year President Obama had a “secret” meeting with Muslim leaders. One of the “leaders” was Azhar Azeez, President of the Islamic Society of North America – an arm of the Muslim Brotherhood that was founded in 1981. This group is one of the many “unindicted co-conspirators” in the Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing trial. Azeez is a staunch supporter of Sharia Law and has participated in funneling hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas. In fact, a striking number of Muslim political groups operating in the United States have been proven to have ties to global terror organizations – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Islamic Science and Culture Committee, the Islamic Heritage Committee, the Muslim Women’s Society, the Young Men’s Muslim Society, the Islamic Association for Palestine in North America, the United Association for Studies and Research, the Muslim Arab Youth Organization, the North American Islamic Trust – you get the idea.

This brings us to an Islamic legal principle called taqiyya whose root meaning is “to remain faithful” but in effect means “dissimulation.” Having full Quranic authority, it allows for Muslims to inwardly remain faithful to their doctrine while outwardly conforming to the social obligations of non-Islamic states and governments while waiting for the tide to turn – or rather, lying for strategic deception.

Islamist groups are training their children to sever the heads of their dolls. They are shooting kalashnikov rifles into the dirt as their children crawl under barbed wire screaming “Allahu Akbar”. They have made threats and delivered on them. There are thousands of videos that show streets mobbed with people yelling “Death to America”. There are hundreds of interviews with alleged “refugees” openly admitting that their mission is to convert Europeans to Islam by force. There are rape epidemics breaking out wherever these “refugees” have “settled”. And half of our country responds by saying, “Yeah, but they aren’t all like that.” This kind of thinking is dangerous and completely off point. There is no reason to argue over percentages. Our job is not to define or argue about what true Islam is.

For all the talk about how “Islamphobic rhetoric” only helps the jihadists, I believe what aids them most of all is our fragility – our almost infantile fear of upsetting or offending Muslims. While majority Muslim countries like Egypt are busy prosecuting and arresting members of groups like the Muslim Brotherhood, the leaders of the Western world are busy haranguing their citizens about how irrational and hateful their fears of Islamic terrorism are. After the recent attack in San Bernardino U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch promptly declared: “My greatest fear is the incredibly disturbing rise of anti-Muslim rhetoric.”

Speaking about the massacre at the offices of Charlie Hebdo in Paris, France Secretary of State John Kerry recently told the world that “There was a sort of particularized focus and perhaps even a legitimacy in terms of – not a legitimacy but a rationale that you could attach yourself to and say, ‘Okay, they’re really angry because of this and that.’”

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has consistently repeated that “Muslim refugees present more opportunities than risks.” In the grasslands of Northern Germany rests a small town called Sumte with a population of one hundred. The nearest city is 40 miles away. Two months ago an emergency town hall meeting was called. The residents were informed that they would soon be taking in one thousand migrants. No votes, no discussion. It is simply happening. Families have been quietly living there for hundreds of years. Suddenly overnight they become outnumbered by migrants ten to one. As the news of this travels, people in other towns rightly become concerned and angry. They are then called “extremists” by their own government. This past September Merkel met with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to discuss the censorship of “anti-migrant” Facebook posts in Germany.

Newly elected Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently denounced Minister Stephen Harper for ruling that women may not wear a niqab (a cloth that covers the entire face, except for the eyes) while taking the Canadian oath of citizenship: “What’s even worse than what they are saying is what they really mean. We all know what is going on here. It is nothing less than an attempt to play on people’s fears and foster prejudice directly toward the Muslim faith.”

The “fears” that people have are absolutely warranted. Islam is much more than a religion – it is a system that rejects liberty and is deeply discriminatory against non-Muslims, women, and homosexuals. Over the past several years the Left has been doing its level best to excuse anti-Western sentiment wherever it is found and President Obama himself has said that he considers it “part of my responsibility as President to to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear.”

The rise of Isis has been attributed to climate change, and to a poor economy. We’ve heard that we deserve it because we’re not tolerant enough. It is precisely this top-down radical acceptance that is willfully endangering non-Muslims all across the Western world. But the Muslim world can take solace in the pages of Barack Obama’s book Dreams From My Father: “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.” Well, they certainly have.
